Finally a snow day has kept us in and without responsibilty for the day. So I took photos of my summer and autumn work to post here. There are a few missing, as I've given away a few and I have a qov that I made completely. This I'll post another day.
So here's a slideshow of my quilts along with two peeks at my new sewing studio! Yes! I've moved from basement to the main floor of my house, I love windows :)

Goodbye, my friend.
This is my friend Elva. Elva and I are members of the BBQ City Quilters' Guild. Elva is a quiet person, she likes yellow roses and pastel colors in her quilts. She's been working on a Quilt of Valor made of bright red, and blue, and a white-white. It's a departure from her favorite color scheme. She's been piecing since summer, every meeting we chat and she shares her work on the quilt, she's a careful quilter and I was really looking forward to the chance to quilt her QOV. Elva died last Tuesday. Two weeks ago she told me her legs were really hurting but the doctor was going to fix her up before the holiday. And she just died in the hospital. Just like that. Elva was married for 49 years, she has three grown children and ten grandchildren and one great-grandkid. She's the same age as my mom. I miss you, Elva. I miss your little laugh and the funny self-deprecating things you say, and your heart, always wanting to help others. I miss you friend.

More QOV
I am so happy to report that my guild friends trust me to quilt for them. Two more wonderful women asked me to quilt their Quilts of Valor. These two quilts are the same pattern! Kay Mathis and Virginia Flippin chose their fabric and pattern while in Paducah in April and gave me the quilts to finish in May. Can you see that they used the same pattern? The variations in color make quite a difference in the look. What speedy and excellent work they did. I was really intimidated to quilt for these two very experienced quilters, but their comments have been very kind and encouraging!
